One Year of Action in the Service of French Sport
What happened in one year for French sports, in brief?
The goal: to use sports as a lever for positive societal impact
In March 2023, the INJEP survey highlighted that our country had 72% of participants, including 60% regular practitioners, an increase of 6 points since 2018. This increase is observed across all age groups with progress reaching 8 points from the age of 40. Women's sports also increased by 8 points. In 2022, INJEP established an increase in sports participation among people with disabilities by 4 points since 2018.
- Put sports more at the heart of our youth's lives
- In 40 years, our children have lost 25% of their cardiovascular capacity. Today, one in two children does less than 20 minutes of physical and sports activity per day. Sports should have the place it deserves in young people’s daily lives, from the schoolyard to university classrooms. We need to generalize 30 minutes of daily physical activity in primary schools, led by "30APQ" reference persons in academic networks.
- What remains to be implemented: - The 30 minutes of daily physical activity in medical and social institutions for the start of the 2024 school year with 10 million euros of aid allocated to ARS to implement the program. - The MSJOP, ANS, and COJOP will equip all elementary schools with 40,000 small sports equipment kits by the end of 2024. - Targeted actions for adolescents to fight against dropout through a playful sports approach by the National Union of National School Sports
- Allow sports to improve our well-being by acting on health, quality of life at work, and living environment
- One in two adults is overweight. Sedentariness and obesity have dramatic impacts and are costly to the national community. We need to accelerate sports-health and place physical and sports activities at the heart of our prevention approaches.
- In the professional environment, 83% of employees wish to engage in physical or sports activities, but only 13% manage to do so. Several projects have already emerged, such as: - The creation of 500 Sports Health Houses throughout the territory - The organization of an event dedicated to corporate sports by MEDEF, in partnership with the French Federation for Corporate Sports and the SPART group.
- Other projects remain to be developed: - The "Go For 30'" program of Paris 2024, which aims to promote sports in companies...
70% of people with disabilities say they are interested in sports, but less than one in two, 47%, regularly participate in sports activities. This is the reality that needs to change; the Paralympic Games can drive this change.
An additional 1 million euros is granted to the ANS Accessibility envelope for making sports facilities accessible. There is also the strengthening of clubs linked to the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF), with 700 of the 3000 new clubs already formed.
"We need to develop solutions that address the uniqueness of physical and sports activities practiced by people with disabilities but can be universally beneficial to anyone who is far from engaging in sports. The context of the Games helps us embrace this uniqueness, embed sport in the lives of people with disabilities, and create conditions for universal access to sports practice." Marie-Amélie LE FUR, President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee
